U-582 left it's base in Brest on June 22, 1942 on its fourth patrol to join the Wolf Pack and returned to Brest on August 11, 1942. On this patrol, she sank Port Hunter (11 July), Empire Attendant (15 July), both from Convoy OS.33 together with the American vessels Honolulan (July 22) and Stella Lykes (July 27). Fate: On October 5, 1942, Southwest of Iceland, in position 58°41'N, 22°58'W, a VP-73 PBY-5 Catalina attacked and sank U-586. There were no survivors from the crew of 46. | ||
